David Cook and David Archuleta Spring Tour DatesAmerican Idol Winner and Runner Up On Tour
David Cook, winner of American Idol, kicked off his Spring tour on Good Morning America on February 12, 2009.
David Cook has officially kicked off The Declaration Tour – 2009, bringing his music to over 20 states across America. He opened his tour at Good Morning America on February 12th and added an encore performance on Regis and Kelly February 13th before traveling to Florida State University. David Cook’s self-titled debut album was certified platinum early in February by the RIAA for selling over 1 million copies. Cook’s competitor, David Archuleta, released his self-titled debut album in November 2008. It has sold 610,000 copies and was certified gold (as of January 2009). Cook’s single, “The Time of My Life” also went platinum, with over one million tracks sold. His single is the biggest single debut and the highest selling coronation single in American Idol’s history. Being second-best to David Cook is not stopping David Archuleta, who has also announced dates for his first solo U.S. tour this Spring. With a huge following of teen fans, Archuleta is also popular among the LDS (Mormon) population. It’s no surprise that one of his last tour dates is in Idaho Falls, Idaho, one of the most highly LDS-populated areas of the state. The following is a list of Spring tour dates for David Cook (American Idol winner) and David Archuleta (America Idol runner-up), current as of February 2009. David Archuleta’s Spring Tour Dates
Differences in ToursDavid Cook has almost twice as many tour dates planned as David Archuleta. Based on the amount of concerts scheduled, it appears that the voters on American Idol weren’t the only fans of David Cook. Campuses across America are hosting last season’s American Idol winner. By comparing the two tours, one can quickly see the different types of fans targeted. David Cook is visiting 25 colleges and universities, whereas David Archuleta is visiting none. David Cook is evidently targeting a slightly older college crowd than Archuleta’s screaming teens, pre-teens, and LDS fans. There’s no doubt that both are popular right now and are working hard to be successful, but David Cook has kicked off a significantly larger scale tour. If you are a fan of either or both, check out the 2009 Spring tour dates to see if they are coming to a town near you.
